Gamelan Gong Sabrang (Gamelan Across Oceans) is a
Toronto community collective formed in June 2001 by a
group of gamelan enthusiasts, specializing in the
traditional courtly music repertoire from Central
Java, Indonesia. Our performances have ranged from small community events and weddings
to public concerts accompanying shadow puppet theatre and dance at the Toronto Art Expo,
and universities
of Toronto, Waterloo and Guelph.
We acknowledge the support of the

We also perform to raise money for our sister group, Gamelan Puspito Laras.
They are an all-women's
neighbourhood group, in the
city of Solo, Central Java. Funds raised will provide financial support -
to help them to purchase instruments
or provide an honorarium for their teacher.
